Sky Mirror, Sasaran Beach, Kuala Selangor

Looking to take unique and mind blowing reflective pictures? You need not head far to Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia, known as the world’s largest salt flat in order to take great pictures. Now, you can do so in Malaysia!
Kuala Selangor Beach is a unique tourist attraction that is only accessible to tourists twice a month, during the new moon and full moon periods. Kuala Selangor Beach is better known as “Mirror of the Sky “as the shallow waters of this “Secret Island” reflects the sky in all its going, thus creating many unique photography opportunities. The Island makes a perfect travel destination for your holiday, it is also a habitat for many marine agriculture. The most common are the sea and baby clam scattered abundantly in the sand.

Recently discovered by the local community , the town of Sasaran located close to Kuala Selangor in Malaysia offer great stunning backdrop. Photographers flock here to capture the unique landscape. One will have to take 40 minutes boat ride out to this unique piece of land located in the middle of the sea in Straits of Malacca. This piece of land will “appear” at certain time depending on the water tidal movement. In other words, one would  able to take pictures in the midst of a sea with clear sky.
You have approximately 45-60 minutes time to spend on the Sky Mirror beach, depends on the weather. While you are here, make the full use of the natural mirror effect here and shot some creative photo! Professional photographer and natural lover from all around the world visit Sky Mirror Malaysia for this unique nature geographic landmark and phenomenon.
There are two types of packages to choose from, i.e. the half day or full day trip. The tour starts in the morning, between 8 am and 10 am with return trips scheduled between 12 pm and 2 pm. In both packages, you will also get to tour around Pulau Angsa and the nearby sea. Accommodations in the form of homestays can be arranged nearby costing RM 350 per night. Fully furnished with air-conditioners, water heater and Wi-Fi, they can accommodate up to 12 people.
If the weather of the day is unsuitable for a boat ride, the trip will be called off and visitors will get a refund. In this case, you can self-drive to visit Bukit Melawati to view the Straits of Malacca, Taman Alam for flora and fauna, the unique 100-year old Indian temple at Bukit Rotan, Sasaran Art Park, Jeram Herbal Farm and enjoy fresh, delicious seafood.

How to book a tour?
There are several operators who owns fishing boats and would be able to bring tourists out to the sea. I have managed to contact a few with various prices. Do note that some boat operators offer lower price, however these operators may only placed plastic chairs on their boat (safety may not be adequate) and will not have people taking nice photos for you. It costs RM70 per adult and RM40 per child (below 12 years old).

What to expect for the tour?

Meet early in the morning (around 9am-10am) at one of the coffeshop (258, Jalan Sasaran, Sungai Buloh, 45800 Jeram, Selangor Malaysia).  The operator will inform you the exact timing to meet. One will have to pay deposit to secure the seat. Pay the remaining balance at the coffeeshop, mark your attendance and yes, you will be ready to depart for the tour! Depart together in a car convoy (5 minutes drive) to the jetty for your boat trip out. One will park within the vicinity of the temple.
Walk to the ferry boarding point and embark on 40 minutes ride out to the sea. Along the way, look out for monkeys and iguanas basking on the swamp.
As mentioned, Skymirror- ocean love will provide photography services. They have their own set of toys to take nice pictures for you!

You will be given about 1-2 hour depending on the wave tidal on that day too. After which, you will be transported to an island about 10 minutes away to have your lunch. The package is inclusive of lunch which typically will be a packet of Nasi Lemak rice. If you are an oyster lover, listen carefully! One could be able to “hunt” for oysters and try the fresh oysters!

Skytropolis - Resorts World Genting

Skytropolis Funland

Genting Highlands is the best known of the three hill stations on the western side of the Banjaran Titiwangsa Range. North of KL, it was opened in 1972 and is only 50km away from the Pahang border. One of Genting’s most popular features is the Genting Theme Park – an amusement park with four zones.

Genting Highlands Theme Park

Families especially love Gentings – mostly because there’s so much to do for everyone. Golf courses, a casino, shopping mall and more, keep most occupied but it’s the Genting Theme Park that really gets people in. The park is divided into four indoor and outdoor zones – the Outdoor Theme Park, First World Indoor Theme Park, Water Park and Video Games Park. The usual thrill rides and water slides are available, but there’s also a variety of signature attractions at Genting Theme Park including the Genting Sky Venture – a fierce wind tunnel for a simulated skydive – plus the fittingly-named Snow World. Food and drinks are expensive – considering they only have stuff like hot dogs, sandwiches, juice, soda and more – but a day walking in the chilly air can make you hungry, so you’ll actually be craving these in no time.

Genting's 20th Century Fox World indoor theme opening may be on hold for now but that hasn't stopped the popular holiday destination from announcing its latest park – Skytropolis Funland!

SKYTROPOLIS FUNLAND @ SKY AVENUE, GENTING HIGHLANDS

A carnival the world awaits!

Resorts World Genting has breathed new life into its indoor entertainment space, creating the new Skytropolis Funland that was soft opened in December last year after closing for nearly one and a half years. Since the opening, it has attracted thousands of visitors to the resort.  Needless to say, this newly revamped indoor theme park is a portal to a new dimension of fun, which will take guests on thrilling adventures and adrenaline-packed rides. From its entrance with actual moving gears, to the thousands of colourful light bulbs that deck out each ride, every inch of the indoor theme park promises extreme fun.

The Skytropolis Funland is spread across four floors is nothing but colourful and vibrant.  With mega large LED screens on the walls and even on the ceiling (over 50 meters in length) that light up the park, the new Skytropolis promises an unforgettable time for the whole family. For the opening, 13 rides have been introduced, whilst nine more will follow suit. Covering 400,000 square feet, the indoor theme park includes Asia’s first The VOID hyper reality centre, BigTop Video Games Park and soon the Imaginatrix that combines physical rides with virtual reality.

A new beginning

Previously known as the First World Indoor Theme Park, the attraction saw more than 20 million visitors walking through and enjoying the indoor theme park with more than 1,000,000 tickets sold a year before its closure in 2017. The indoor theme park was ahead of its time with attractions such as SkyVenture, a free fall skydiving simulator the only one in Asia then. With the introduction of the Genting Integrated Tourism Plan (GITP) to re-develop Resorts World Genting, the Indoor Theme Park was part of the plans to be re-vamped to accommodate the new look and feel that the resort was re-creating. This shift in paradigm and outlook has enabled the resort to offer a new ‘Funland’ for guests of all ages to enjoy.

Enjoy an adrenaline rush or have fun with the family with awesome rides!

Adults can get in on the fun as well, with rides meant for the whole family to enjoy. First, get the adrenaline started with the Copper Express vintage as it 'choo-choos' its way along a 61m track, providing a visual tour of Skytropolis Funland. Space Cadets elevates and spins passengers around for an exhilarating exploration of the solar system. Bring things down to earth with a regal spin on the Royal Carousel, or stay up in the sky in emulation of Phileas Fogg and his journey Around the World in 80 Days in the Balloon Race. Coming soon are the magical mystery Tea Cups, the Charlot Cruise that loops around the park and the Soaring Ships which offers an aerial view that you can enjoy with the whole family.

What to do

Kids can start with the classic carousel Ride ’Em Round, or sit in rotating pods at Whirly Bugs. Meanwhile, Boo Boo Bump is a spin on the classic bumper car and Loop De Loop whirls around an illuminated iron-wrought Genting Tower.
